During the 2017-18 academic year, the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work launched the Social Work Grand Challenges Science for Action Series, dedicated to addressing all 12 of the challenges over the next four years.
This past spring, the Burnes Center on Poverty and Homelessness hosted the third event of the series focusing on the Grand Challenge of Ending Homelessness. Attended by approximately 200 members of the University and greater Denver community, the event featured a plenary address by homelessness scholar and national expert, Dr. Benjamin Henwood, Associate Professor at USC’s Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Expert panels and breakout sessions throughout the day addressed research, practice, and policy responses to chronic, veteran, family, and youth homelessness.
